Mononaftis

Mononaftis beach is about 2 km to the west of Agia Pelagia, it can be reach by the high way entrance towards Rethymnon and then take a left when you see an ECO gas station.The area is popular among tourists. You can get here by car, taxi or buses, parking is available. Although if are not planing to leave the area of Agia Pelagia we suggest you rent a bike or a ATV.

Mononaftis Beach and area which name means “lonely sailor” in Greek and its said that was name this way because a castaway sailor survived and reach safe to this shore. It is a small, and rocky. However, it is well-organized with sun beds and umbrellas along the coastline with lots of restaurants cafes and mini markets.There are also rooms and hotels around. This beach is also used for diving because it hosts an amazing variety of sea life. In its deep waters, you will find eels, octopus, scorpion fish, sea anemones and beautiful shells.You can also investigate the rocky surrounding of Mononaftis beach.
